Purpose This paper aims to explore consumers’ experienced life and studies how practices interconnect and are organized on a daily basis. The objective is to contribute to a better understanding of how (or whether) it is possible to interfere with daily practices, as public policies pretend to do, to address several societal challenges (food waste, healthy eating, greenhouse gas reduction, social equity, etc.). Design/methodology/approach Using the concepts of routine, ritual and practice to understand the dynamics of daily life from a practice theories perspective, this study is based on a qualitative methodology combining a projective method of collage coupled with semi-structured interviews with 23 participants and, participant observation of shopping, cooking and mealtimes at home with 11 of the 23 participants. As animal sacrifi ce was one of the unfamiliar rituals introduced to western anthropologists by foreign cultures, the ritual of animal sacrifi ce was addressed by anthropologists as early as the nineteenth century. Later, the topic was a trend in other different majors like archaeology, history, sociology and psychology as well.

Georges PAUILHAC (1871-1958) fut sans doute le dernier grand collectionneur français d’armes anciennes. Héritier des papiers à cigarettes JOB, il commença à prospecter Toulouse et sa région dès ses treize ans. Le jeune collectionneur écuma ensuite l’Espagne, parcourant les villages à la recherche de pièces militaires ou profitant de la dispersion des grands cabinets d’armes de l’aristocratie ibérique.

Se tournant ensuite davantage vers le nord de l’Europe, il s’installa à Paris en 1910 et se fit construire un hôtel particulier complété d’une annexe sur jardin où il abrita ses collections. C'est là que, pendant un demi-siècle, défilèrent tout ce que le monde comptait de collectionneurs, de grands conservateurs de musées, d'érudits, de chercheurs et de curieux en armes anciennes. Georges PAUILHAC se constitua ainsi tout au long de sa vie divers réseaux à travers le monde.

Afin d’identifier ces cercles de sociabilité et comprendre quel fut leur rôle pour la collection PAUILHAC, nous nous sommes appuyés sur les archives pour réaliser ce mémoire d’étude, notamment sur celles du collectionneur, conservées avec la collection au musée de l’Armée depuis 1964. Toutes ces archives sont très diverses et témoignent de facettes différentes de la vie de l’industriel, nous permettant ainsi de redécouvrir ce personnage central de l’histoire du collectionnisme militaire, injustement méconnu.

Os Wayana e Aparai residentes na aldeia Suisuimëne, situada às margens do médio rio Paru de Leste – Terra Indígena Rio Paru D’Este – norte do Estado do Pará, celebraram em agosto de 2012 um “ritual de flautas”, uwatop tuleh, o qual não era comemorado nessa localidade há pelo menos duas décadas. O instrumento celebrado nesta ocasião é um trompete reto – waitakala – confeccionado de taquara e associado a um determinado sobrenatural do qual reproduz a modulação da voz.

The focus of this chapter is drawn from the author’s lived experience and
background as a third generation stateless Palestinian refugee who lived
in one of the Palestinian camps in Lebanon and inherited the refugeeship
from her parents and grandparents. Even though the author agrees with
Hannah Arendt (1943) that ‘We don’t like to be called refugees’ (p. 264),
the process of this research and thoughts behind it are attributed to the
author’s personal experiences, as Arendt (1964) confirms in her statement
that the process of thought can seldom be possible without being attributed to a personal experience.

Şamanların ve sanatçıların çeşitli alanlarda benzer özellikleri taşıdıkları söylenebilir. Bu
çalışmada seçilen birkaç sanatçı detaylı olarak incelenmiş, Şamanik özellikleri
bünyesinde barındırıyor olabileceği tespiti yapılmıştır. Şamanizm, arkeoloji ile birlikte
psikoloji, antropoloji, felsefe birçok alan literatüründen faydalanılarak araştırılmıştır. Bu
çalışma Orta Asya şaman kültüründe, ritüellerde anlamlar yüklenerek simgeleştirilen
nesnelerin, birer sanatsal nesne gibi düşünülebileceğini ve bunlardan yola çıkarak
yorumlamalarla özgün formlara gidilebileceğini araştırmaktadır. Neo-Şamanizm’le
birlikte batıl inanç olarak adlandırılan göreneklerin, bazı toplumlarda bugün hala
uygulandığı gözlemlenmiştir. Orta Asya şaman kültürü içerisindeki ritüeller, totem
inancı, objeler, ruhsal iletişim ve şaman kavramları tümevarım yöntemi kullanılarak
incelenmiş, bu kavramların sanatla ve sanatçıyla olan ilişkisinin yanı sıra sanat
içerisinde nasıl yer edindiği araştırılmıştır. Bu yolla, şaman ve sanatçı, faydalanılan
farklı bilimlerin ve kaynakların yardımıyla karşılaştırılmış ve aralarında hangi
yönlerden ortaklıklar ve bağlantılar olduğu incelenmiştir. Şaman kültüründe ritüellerin
önemi, çeşitleri, yapılış amaçları, yapılış nedenleri ve sanatçının sanat objesi üretim
süreciyle birlikte şaman kültüründeki ritüellerle arasındaki bağlantılar ortaya koyulmaya
çalışılmıştır. Bu araştırmalar sonucunda sanatçıların modern dünyanın şamanları olarak
düşünülebileceği anlaşılmıştır. Çünkü, hem sanat hem de Şamanizm duyguların ifade
edildiği ve iyileşmenin gerçekleştiği yerde metafor alanını kullanmaktadır. Metaforik
vizyonla empati akar, sınır tanımaz. Şamanizm ve sanatçı arasındaki ortak özelliklerin
en önemlileri nesneleri araştırmak, yeniden yapılandırmak ve yeniden yorumlamak
olduğu söylenebilir. Para, teknoloji ve güç arayışıyla geçmişin özünün unutulduğu
bugünün dünyasında, şamanın ritüellerde kullandığı objelerin sanatsal nesneler olarak
yorumlanması yeni bir düşünme şekli olabilir. Yapılan seramik uygulamalar, şaman
kültürünün totem, ritüel ve obje bağlantıları yönünden yorumudur.

The story of the origin of natya that appears in the early chapters of the Natyashastra is not a mere glorification of the Vedic tradition. It is an interesting history of the metamorphosis of an ancient worship method, that is the Vedic yajna with all its components-the text, the song etc., into a new art form, called natya. In Satya Yuga, there was no sorrow, but natya or theatre requires both happiness and sorrow for its creation. Therefore, in the Tretaa Yuga, when there was ample sorrow, Indra requested Brahma to create a new visual-auditory art form to enhance knowledge and provide entertainment. Indra's request was not for the entertainment of the gods alone. Indra wanted the new art form to be wholesome and a source of deep, best and easily comprehensible knowledge. "Let that be the fifth Veda! Those who do not have access to the education of the Vedas, may also get the knowledge of the four Vedas through this new art." (Natyashastra 1 / 11-12, Baroda Edition). To fulfil the wish of Indra, Brahma created the Natya Veda in which the text was borrowed from Rig Veda, the song from Sama, the abhinaya from Yajur, and the rasa from Atharva Veda (1/17). Then Indra told Brahma, "Gods do not have the ability to assimilate this new Veda, so it should be in custody of the sages." It is at this point that Brahma gave Natya Veda to Bharata Muni (1 / 21-4). Bharata created a performance using the three Vrittis, namely Aarabhatii, Saatvatii, and Bhaaratii, but the performance failed. (1/41). In other words, even the Vedic text, acting, song and rasa, failed to provide complete enjoyment. Drama incomplete without Kaishikii Vrtti Then Brahma instructed Bharata to include Kaishikii vrtti in Natya (1/42). On asking for the means to achieve the same, Brahma created Apsaras and instructed Bharata to include them in Natya. (1/43-4).

En ese sentido, el presente artículo constituye principalmente una aventura de indagaciones que van desde las crónicas hasta la teoría de género, pasando por la iconografía, con la finalidad de demostrar a partir de datos iconográficos, materiales e historiográficos un posible rastro que pudiera ayudar con su posible identidad. Esta búsqueda ensaya la posibilidad de relación entre el Personaje D Moche y la figura divina del Chuqui Chinchay. En dicha tarea, nos proponemos lanzar astutamente las diferentes pistas y evidencias que demostrarían dicha relación, lo que nos hablaría de la existencia en las sociedades pre-hispánicas del Perú de sujetos duales, que al parecer tuvieron un tratamiento corpóreo que va entre variaciones de masculino a femenino y viceversa, y enmarcado dentro de prácticas y ceremonias rituales.

Krahô, Karajá, Javaé e Xerente são as etnias que compartilham algumas de suas danças rituais, festas tradicionais, artefatos culturais, histórias de animais e outros seres contadas e transmitidas de geração a geração e que são parte da identidade cultural desses povos. A interculturalidade requerida e presente nos processos educacionais escolarizados pode ser conhecida pelas releituras de contos não indígenas que são reelaborados a partir de significações próprias desses grupos étnicos.
O livro “Literatura Indígena do Tocantins” é multilíngue, escrito nas línguas nativas de cada povo e em Língua Portuguesa, como parte das políticas de valorização linguística requeridas pelas comunidades, lideranças e educadores e asseguradas nas legislações específicas que tratam da Educação Escolar Indígena.
O direito à Educação Escolar Indígena intercultural, específica e diferenciada é materializado nas linhas que compõe essa bela coletânea de textos e vivências de alguns dos povos indígenas que vivem no hoje, Estado do Tocantins e representa a possibilidade de trabalhos adequados à diversidade cultural indígena no Brasil.
O desafio é fazer com que o livro chegue às escolas indígenas e não indígenas e passem a compor o conjunto de materiais paradidáticos que atendem a Lei 11.645 de 2008 que torna obrigatório o ensino das culturas e histórias indígenas e afro-brasileiras em todos os estabelecimentos de ensino do Brasil. Desta feita, poderemos continuar avançando na superação dos estereótipos que permeiam o imaginário nacional sobre os povos indígenas no Brasil e “esperançar” a construção de um país plural que valoriza e respeita as diversidades.

O estudo analisa a figura feminina arquetípica presente nas narrativas míticas de autoria Paiter Suruí, povo indígena residente na fronteira entre os estados de Rondônia e Mato Grosso, no Brasil. Para tanto, utiliza-se como fonte de dados setes narrativas Paiter Suruí apresentadas no livro Vozes de Origem, uma coleção de histórias narradas por indígenas Paiter Suruí em sua língua de origem, o tupi-mondé, à antropóloga Betty Mindlin, responsável pela tradução para o português e organização do livro. Como referencial teórico-metodológico é utilizada a abordagem Analítica da Psicologia a partir do conceito de amplificação simbólica proposto por Carl G. Jung (1875–1961) e elaborado como método de análise por Marie Louise Von Franz (1915–1998). Introduction The ritual visitation of ancestors to the world of the living comes up every other year at Ode Irele. This performance sums up the ritual segment that attends Olofungbogho. The performance may be limited to the ritual arena and may include the road leading to the grove as in the case of the ritual segment prelude to the performance of Ojoyejusu (Yam Feast) when the scapegoat known as Oluwen (The Carrier of Phenomenal Load) purifies the land and people through his redemptive submission. It has diplomatic undertone, as female members are restricted and could only communicate with the ancestors tactically.

The nature of Eje Festival in relation to gender is the subject of this study. The study deploys the tool of aesthetic as an instrument to particularly investigate the role of masquerades as a means of entertaining female members of the community periodically. Dwelling on aesthetics as a critical tool, the study unravels the performance of Eje Festival as a means of solving some perceived agrarian problems. The study concludes that the underlying reason behind the festival is subsumed in the quest for entertainment and the need for cohesion in the society especially as a means of enhancing the safety of members who might be married to people far and near.

As part of the Second Temple-period response to the question of what expectations for restoration should be, 4Q385 engages the dry bones vision, but also alters its meaning by introducing new materials to Ezekiel’s vision. It achieves this change through the use of language missing not only from Ezek 37:1–14, but from all of Ezekiel’s restoration prophecies, enlisting the text from Ezek 37 both to support its own ideology and to address the questions of when and how restoration will be realized.
Using the portrayal of Israel’s restoration in 4Q385 as its focus, this article explored how additions to Ezek 37 in PsEzek are utilized to create a consolatory message. These additions share a common denominator: not only are the terms of redemption used by 4Q385 absent from Ezek 37; they are also conspicuously absent from Ezekiel’s restoration prophecies. Its author underscores his message by creating a cluster of allusions to Ezek 37:1–14, an authoritative text for the future restoration of the people, while at the same time introducing changes that transform Ezekiel’s “dim view of restoration” into a more optimistic vision that includes divine love, benevolence, and blessing for his people. 4Q385 thus not only addresses the question of when the restoration prophesied by Ezekiel will take place; it provides a more optimistic picture of this restoration. The comparison between 4Q385 and the book of Ezekiel as a whole emphasizes this underlying theme, overlooked in previous scholarship, that unites all of the corrections and changes that distinguish this text from the biblical version.

This paper addresses contextualisation of Yogic practices, in particular, pranayama or breathwork in the western Sufism. For at least a half of century western religious milieu has been subjected to the eastern religious tradition influx and syncretisation that has an impact on appropriation of Sufis traditions in the West. Contemporary developments in the western Sufis are regarded in line with the concept of ‘reflective spirituality’ (Roof) who claims that contemporary ‘reflective self’ finds it expression in the ‘reflective spirituality’ that tend to be highly fused and oriented towards the practical holistic
perspective of ‘self-realisation’.

The goal of this MA thesis is to integrally reconstruct for the first time the
economic life in Sirmium and its city territory and changes in the dynamism of this economic life from the beginning of the Roman rule (the transition from the Old into the New Era) until the fall of the city under the Huns in the fifth decade of the fifth century on the basis of the available archaeological and written sources. The branches of the economic life analysed in this thesis are agriculture and animal husbandry, bone industry, leatherworking, obtaining and processing wood, brick production, pottery making, metal processing, glass-making, obtaining and processing stone, art such as mosaics and wall-paintings and slave ownership.

Durante la campaña presidencial del Frente de Todos en las elecciones nacionales de 2019, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner realizó una serie de presentaciones de su libro Sinceramente, ante miles de personas a lo largo y ancho del país, mientras que el candidato a presidente, Alberto Fernández, recorría las provincias en pos de ampliar y fortalecer las alianzas electorales. En ese contexto, entendemos que la posición novedosa de CFK, en su rol de candidata a vicepresidenta de la nación, constituye un tema de interés fundamental para indagar en el sistema político nacional contemporáneo.

En el marco general del análisis del discurso francés y desde los abordajes de la palabra política, esta tesina analiza los discursos de presentación del libro Sinceramente, que CFK realizó en el marco de la campaña. Específicamente, se trata de analizar la dimensión escenográfica y la dimensión verbal de las presentaciones, con el objetivo general de comprender los modos de legitimación de la ex presidenta en dicho contexto.

Por un lado, a través del estudio de la distribución de los cuerpos en el espacio, la presencia de la simbología y la mediatización de los actos, se identifican estrategias de intervención del espacio que conformaron dos puestas en escena simultáneas y, por momentos, contradictorias: una que privilegia una identificación amplia, por encima de lo partidario, y otra que remite a los mitines partidarios. Por otro lado, a través de la indagación de la dimensión verbal –enfocada en la dimensión dialogal y en la matriz discursiva, en la configuración del dispositivo de enunciación en torno al testimonio y en los principales ejes argumentativos que organizaron el discurso– también se identifica cierta tensión entre una búsqueda por ampliar los procesos de identificación y un dispositivo de enunciación que genera un colectivo de identificación restringido. Asimismo, se advierte la convergencia entre un ethos de humanidad y un ethos de capacidad que configuran la imagen de CFK como dirigente-militante, por medio de la cual se legitima políticamente, ubicándose en una línea de dirigentes históricos, por encima de las disputas electorales.

This book is the first to explore the rich festival culture of late sixteenth- and early seventeenth-century France as a tool for diplomacy. Bram van Leuveren examines how the late Valois and early Bourbon rulers of the kingdom made conscious use of festivals to advance their diplomatic interests in a war-torn Europe and how diplomatic stakeholders from across the continent participated in and responded to the theatrical and ceremonial events that featured at these festivals. Analysing a large body of multilingual eyewitness and commemorative accounts, as well as visual and material objects, Van Leuveren argues that French festival culture operated as a contested site where the diplomatic concerns of stakeholders from various national, religious, and social backgrounds fought for recognition.

Lines 282-306 in the work Inana's Descent to the Netherworld are the opening lines of the section situated between two literary units: the recounting of Inana's journey to the netherworld and the recounting of Dumuzi's descent to the netherworld. These lines are characterized by various textual differences, as well as multiple repetitions of the phrase "Inana ascended from the netherworld," in both the temporal and indicative clauses. By examining each one of the repetitive phrases and its adjacent paragraph, the article traces the gradual development of that passage from one sentence into a paragraph of ca. 30 lines.

The devotees have to offer sacrifice and sometime keeps fasting and travel bare-footed. It is also persuaded by the world religions to visit these sacred monuments. Comme la grande majorité de leurs contemporains, les Compagnons du Tour de France du XIXe siècle ont été extrêmement sensibles aux « tentations du secret », du moins pour ce qui concerne la sphère de l’ésotérisme — j’emploie ici le terme dans un sens très large et très vague —, celle de la politique ne les ayant pas ou peu attirés. […] Venons-en enfin au cas exemplaire que forme un emprunt compagnonnique jusqu’alors inédit à la « franc-maçonnerie du bois ». On sait qu’au XVIIIe siècle, la franc-maçonnerie a compté de nombreux courants, au sein desquels celui qu’il est convenu, depuis la publication éponyme de Jacques Brengues, de nommer « la franc-maçonnerie du bois ». On entend par là deux systèmes qui sont pourtant, à l’origine, relativement distincts : d’une part, la Fenderie, d’autre part, la Charbonnerie. Il s’agit dans un cas comme dans l’autre d’organisations sur lesquelles on reste assez mal documenté pour ce qui est de leur histoire ancienne — j’entends par là celle qui précède leur entrée dans la sphère spéculative au cours du XVIIIe siècle —, mais qui ont pour origine deux authentiques métiers forestiers, celui de fendeur et celui de charbonnier.

Engaged Dharma Israel (EDI) activists resist their state's occupation of West Bank Palestinians by offering them solidarity and support. Whereas most Israelis consider such Palestinians’ houses unsafe, EDI participants “feel at home” when acting as polite guests there, experiencing the hospitality of their politically subordinate counterparts as poignant. Such activists value intimacy—crossing boundaries between self and other on both personal and national levels—which they substantially realize during their visits. However, they also seek to promote Israelis’ and Palestinians’ mutual autonomy, or nonintervention in each other's personal and communal affairs, an often-competing value that the visits likewise help effectuate. These capacities of hospitality result from its ritualized nature—namely, its tendency to follow conventional scripts that do not require certain inner states (e.g., sincerity). Hospitality can therefore be usefully approached as a ritualized arena that enables people to promote multiple values, or culturally valorized ideals, including ones frequently found in tension. This ability of hospitality to work out and negotiate participants’ plural ethical commitments is embedded in the power dynamics and political inequalities that normally characterize hospitality events.
