This paper seeks to offer an assessment of the nature of identity among Poland's German minority and to investigate why since 1950 large numbers of that minority have migrated to Germany. It does so by examining the nature of identity in the historic Polish-German borderlands, by recounting the experiences of those Germans who remained behind in Poland after the post World War Two expulsion process was completed in 1949, and by examining the continued salience of negative stereotypes of Germans and Germany among elements of Polish society. The paper highlights a number of salient factors of importance for members of the minority in deciding whether or not to stay in Poland or to migrate to Germany.

This article is the first attempt at mapping the pilgrimage landscape in contemporary Estonia, reputedly one of the most secularized countries in Europe. Based on fieldwork on three case studies — the Estonian Society of the Friends of the Camino de Santiago, the Pirita-Vastseliina pilgrim trail, and the “Mobile Congregation” — we have identified three distinctive features that shape the Estonian pilgrimage scene. The processes of Caminoization and heritagization characterize pilgrimage on a European scale, while the phenomenon that we call “bridging” has a more local flavor. Bridging refers to using pilgrimage to create connections between the Church (of any Christian denomination) and “secular” people. This paper presents evidence for the later (mostly Geometric) use of the Μycenaean cemetery at Agios Vasileios, Chalandritsa, at the eastern side of the Pharai plain, 20 km south-east of Patras. This evidence comprises surface material and a burial in the dromos of Tomb 17 (with a preliminary analysis of the human skeletal remains), plus finds from the tomb chamber, and finds from the chamber of Tomb 24.

The early 1970s brought fundamental transitions in international scientific collaboration that significantly affected the international relations in global patterns that are still relevant today. This article uses a multi-perspective approach to argue that the underlying condition for the globalization of science diplomacy was the increasing participation of recently independent countries in international technoscientific affairs, examining critical research areas, including space exploration, oceanography, nuclear technoscience, the environmental sciences, and health and population studies. Themes emerged at that time that continue to characterize what we term ‘Global Science Diplomacy’: multipolarity, resistance and agency, lack of global consensus, regional alliances and interests, and the centrality of the United Nations system to the conduct of transnational science. The important role they play in design processes is being currently vindicated, as it is evidenced by artists and mathematicians as Lucio Saffaro. Topology is concerned with the properties of spaces that are preserved under continuous deformations, and has proved to be particularly useful in the previous stages of the architectural projects, when the location of uses and itineraries is defined. On the other hand, topology brings lots of possibilities in those phases of design where no dimensional definition is needed, but just to satisfy some spatial properties. It becomes then a powerful easy tool to show and analyse different solutions by means of their spatial relationships. Tillid og team er blevet behandlet særdeles indgående i organisationslitteraturen, især som særskilte emner. Denne artikel argumenterer for, at teamtillid kan defineres som et teams’ forventning om, at man kan placere noget værdifuld – ressourcer, helbred og i yderste konsekvens teamets eller individers overlevelse – i en anden parts varetægt. Hermed betones, at teamtillid er et refleksivt anliggende, hvor man løber en risiko i forhold til andre individer, grupper eller ting. Denne artikel undersøger tillid i arbejdsteam og beskriver fire dimensioner ved teamtillid: Fortrolighed, personlig tillid og systemtillid (Luhmann) samt psykologisk sikkerhed (Edmondson). Artiklen udvikler en matrix til analyse af disse fire forskellige dimensioner ved teamtillid på tre niveauer: Dyaden, intra-team og inter-team.

In this case study, I examine how the residents of two displaced rural Kansas towns, and their descendants, exhibit a sense of identity common to small farm communities throughout the Great Plains, and how tenacious these ties are even after the physical reminder of their communal bonds no longer exists. By examining the struggles to survive faced by these two towns, Irving and Broughton, the resiliency of the people who called them home, and the continuing expression of community solidarity by the individuals associated with them, I propose that the individuals living within these communities created a transcendental identity similar to that of Benedict Anderson\u27s Imagined Communities. This communal identity remains a unifying bond without the need for an enduring physical signifier
