The Antikythera Mechanism is the most sophisticated extant ancient astronomical instrument and analogue computer known and was assembled sometime between 150 and 100 BCE, almost a century after the death of Archimedes. The mechanism has a great educational potential as it appeals to inquiring minds as an astonishing artefact of science and technology. The latest research findings reveal significant cultural and social functions in its operations. This astonishing astronomical instrument has a clear interdisciplinary valueand it has that it may be used as an educational medium, to engage the general public, and especially to attract students both to/from exact sciences and to/from the humanities. The astronomical and technical knowledge embedded in the mechanism can also be used to introduce some aspects of modern science through the unknown technological achievements of Hellenic antiquity.

This study examines the use, adaptation, modification and omission of astronomical and calendrical elements in early Japanese Mikkyō (ninth century) in large part from the perspective of exact sciences. Shingon and Tendai inherited a Sinicized system of Indian astrology from their respective beginnings, but the significance of this fact in the study of Japanese religions is underrecognized despite the reality that astrology was both studied and technically required in Mikkyō. This study will examine how Mikkyō negotiated the demand for orthopraxical use of Indian models with the contingent realities of only possessing in practice a Chinese calendar and system of observational astronomy. Japanese monks were compelled to observe Indian astrology according to their own scriptures, which by extension necessitated knowledge of Indian astronomy, but substitutions and omissions had to be made in the absence of the required resources and knowledge.

Nataf (Solar Phys.297, 107, 2022) has recently asserted that the hypothesis that the solar dynamo may be synchronized by planetary tidal forces is unsupported by any evidence. He reached this conclusion by adopting a simplistic tidal model (which was discussed in his Appendix A) that relies solely on the effect of Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Jupiter whose orbits were assumed to be circular. His model was unable to produce tides with periods compatible with those of the Schwabe 11-year solar cycle. I demonstrate here that the modeling in Nataf (2022) is erroneous and that a correct modeling and interpretation of the planetary tidal function, which accounts for all planets and their true orbits, fits well with the spectral requirements of the Schwabe 11-year solar cycle. In The Christ Conspiracy, Acharya S/DM Murdock presents compelling evidence that precession of the equinox provided the intellectual framework of Christian origins. This is a deeply controversial scientific and historical hypothesis, claiming to explain how and why Jesus Christ was invented as a human representation of the Sun. The key claim is that as the position of the Sun at the spring equinox moved into the constellation of Pisces at the time of Christ, the story of Christ was constructed using this observed astronomical movement as the blueprint.  This essay was published as an Appendix to the Second Edition of The Christ Conspiracy.

Multi-planet Conjunction is a grand congregation of multiple planets in any one constellation. We commonly come across 2P, 3P, 4P, 5P and 6P conjunctions. Qualitative impact of MPC was discussed in the following papers:

Эти трактаты являются ценным источником по истории средневековой арабо-мусульманской астрологии в ее популярных вариантах, причем некоторые приводимые в них сведения могут иметь ценность и сегодня, в том числе для быстрого и не требующего высокой квалификации астролога (своего рода «любительского») анализа натальной карты. Перевод настоящей версии текста осуществляется с арабской рукописи XVI в., хранящейся в Национальной Библиотеке Франции; он снабжен примечаниями и глоссарием астрологических терминов.

La représentation de la constellation du Sagittaire utilise un motif tiré d’un contexte mythologique déjà présent dans la tradition mésopotamienne. Nous analyserons son développement dans le monde grec et romain en partant d’une intaille conservée au Metropolitan Museum of Art de New York. La gemme, une agate de forme ovale, datée pour des raisons stylistiques au Ve siècle av. J.-C., pourrait présenter l’ une des premières mises en image du signe zodiacal du Sagittaire qui ferait ainsi sa première apparition dans le monde grec sur un support miniaturisé. Cet objet semble constituer un témoignage matériel et visuel de l’existence d’une iconographie des constellations zodiacales transmise par le Proche-Orient dès l’époque classique en Grèce.
Notre propos est donc double. Il s’agit tout d’abord de reconsidérer la date de la pièce, afin d’ajouter un nouveau tesson à l’histoire de la genèse du ciel des Anciens. En effet, peu de témoignages figurent des représentations individuelles, ou groupées, d’astres et constellations du zodiaque pour ce qui concerne le VIIe et IVe siècle av. J.-C. Il est dès lors nécessaire de vérifier la validité de ces datations, essentielles pour comprendre le chemin de cons- truction de l’image zodiacale. Ensuite, avancer une nouvelle datation de la pièce aide à comprendre comment ce type de représentation a pu apparaître dans le monde grec et romain et dans quelle mesure le graveur, ou le commanditaire, s’est inspiré des modèles orientaux en les adaptant à ses paradigmes culturels.

The dissemination of a literary work depends on several factors, but its availability to the public is a sine qua non and, for that reason, translation plays a capital role in this process. However, literary works from peripheral systems will thus have particular difficulty in finding its way to their potential readers. We know that a translation into a central language may be a way for a work from a peripheral system to reach others of a similar dimension or condition (Sapiro 2008), but central systems do tend to leave little space for translated literature (Even-Zohar 1990). One should not be surprised, then, to learn that for Casanova “Translation is the major prize and weapon in international literary competition” (Casanova 2004: 133). This translation contains chapter nine of the Yoga Yātrā of Varāhamihira, a famous East Indian astrology text by Varāhamihira (circa 6th century) dealing with military astrology. There are a total of 16 chapters for a total of 485 verses. The other chapters will be added as I complete them. My translation includes an outline of the major concepts for each chapter, a word for word translation from Sanskrit to English with parts of speech annotations.

I am not aware of any other Sanskrit to English translation of chapter nine of this text.

Chapter nine covers the affliction or not of particular nakṣatras in relation to the nakṣatra of the Moon.

Prosegue la ricerca dell’autore finalizzata a illustrare i meccanismi astrologici tramite cui i raggi degli astri si trasformano in cose, persone ed eventi terrestri. Infatti, secondo la più antica concezione ermetica, il Cielo e la Terra sono due facce di una stessa medaglia, due aspetti di una stella realtà: la Cosa Una di cui parla Ermete Trismegisto.
In questo terzo volume l’attenzione si sposta in maniera più specifica sul tema natale individuale. Si inizia introducendo il concetto di Costellazione Manifestatrice. Se è vero che ciascuno di noi ha una sua Costellazione Generatrice e una Stella Madre, non è men vero che l’io psicologico e corporeo ha bisogno di un ulteriore supporto per la sua concreta manifestazione sul piano terrestre. La Costellazione Generatrice (CG) e la Stella Madre (SM) generano flussi di immagini, ai quali cooperano anche gli altri astri e le altre immagini stellate. Questi flussi di immagini sono dotati di autocoscienza, ed è da questo che nasce il senso di un io individuale che si identifica con uno di questi flussi di immagini generati dalla CG e SM e lo inizia a percepire dal suo illusorio punto di vista individuale.
Ecco perché nel tema natale di ciascuno di noi è possibile individuare anche una Costellazione Manifestatrice (CM), che è la principale artefice sia del nostro corpo fisico, sia della nostra identificazione con un io che si sente legato ad esso. Si spiega dunque non soltanto come individuarla nel tema natale, ma anche tutte le altre sue possibili applicazioni interpretative, comprese le Rivoluzioni Solari e le progressioni e direzioni.
Nelle parti successive si illustra la rilevanza della CM e della CG anche nell’ Astrologia di Spazio Locale, cioè per individuare in modo più specifico i luoghi in cui possono accadere gli eventi più significativi per la singola persona.
Poi, riprendendo il concetto di stelle-limite di un luogo già spiegato nel secondo volume, si mostra come le più importanti stelle-limite sono quelle che diventano tali in base alla loro minima o massima declinazione. Questo ha importanti effetti anche nell’astrologia individuale, favorendo la nascita di personaggi particolari in certi luoghi del pianeta, i quali diventano a loro volta chiare manifestazioni terrestri delle stelle in questione proprio nei periodi in cui esse sono attivate nei modi che vedremo.
Nella quarta parte vedremo quali sono le declinazioni, gli azimut e le altezze “magiche” e quali effetti astrologici hanno. In tal modo studiamo in dettaglio i modi in cui i raggi stellari si trasformano in realtà terrestri. Queste tecniche sono molto utili anche per individuare alcuni Stargates efficaci per i singoli individui in certi periodi, tali da poter favorire esperienze, anche iniziatiche, di natura eccezionale.
Nella quinta parte, dopo aver descritto alcuni fenomeni luminosi delle stelle e la loro rilevanza astrologica, ne esaminiamo alcune importanti applicazioni. Si tratta della prima e ultima visibilità di una stella alla sua culminazione, dell’ultimo sorgere eliaco vespertino e del primo tramonto eliaco mattutino. Ne esaminiamo sia alcuni esempi nella normale astrologia, sia la loro rilevanza nella storia sacra.

At the time, this was the object of occult philosophy, manifested in the different types of magic: natural, celestial, and ceremonial. The consideration of such elements from contemporary beliefs allows a better understanding of their significance in Cervantes’ novel, in both aesthetic terms (from the «unreason» of the epics), and epistemic (in the framework of a worldview that was evolving towards a growing rationalism).

This research was motivated by the low ability of students to engage in narrative writing. The purpose of this research was to examine the role of executive function in the process of students writing narrative texts and to investigate the contribution of executive function to various aspects of narrative text composition. The research method used in this study was a factorial analysis design to find out which executive functions contribute the most to the students&#39; narrative writing skills. Dharma is in Sahaja Yoga a much broader concept than only sexuality. It encompasses also decency, not being influenced by one's own conditionings or by the conditionings of one's own culture, by all kinds of negative impulses that reach us via our senses, by the many temptations by which the media try to convince us, by slavishly following all kinds of negative invitations, by negative people … All these impulses try to keep to keep us away from seeing the positive events within ourselves, around us, in the world and so try to prevent us from becoming optimistic. Besides that, we are bound by the maya of our material self and of the material world. And … yogis seem to avoid talking about a normal, healthy sexuality, which seems to be treated as a kind of taboo.

The article is devoted to the study of the Greek and Roman sources about the life and work of the Alexandrian philosopher, grammarian and astrologer Thrasyllus. Initially he was Tiberius' personal astrologer on Rhodes, but over time he achieved his friendship and became a confidant of the emperor. The extent of Thrasyllus’ influence on Tiberius' political decisions should not be exaggerated. Although he was related to influential figures at court, in particular, with Quintus Macro, who played a very important role under Tiberius in the last years of his life and ensured the transfer of imperial power to Caligula, Thrasyllus did not take part in these intrigues. Rather, he played the role of a court philosopher; his teaching about the Logos could arouse the interest of the fatalist Tiberius, and besides, it provided the foundation for the philosophical justification of astrology, that was a hobby of the emperor.
