Une recherche menée en 2021 dans les archives de l’Académie des sciences, belles-lettres et arts de Lyon, société savante datant du début du xviiie siècle, a mis en évidence un ensemble de textes témoignant de l’existence de liens entre la Russie et Lyon avant la fondation de l’université locale (1896) et avant la création de la première chaire de slavistique lyonnaise (1920). Ces documents sont de trois natures différentes : lettres (de Russie ou sur la Russie), mémoires manuscrits et enfin discours, ayant donné lieu à publication ou non. Parmi ces textes, on trouve trace de deux ardents patriotes russes, l’un venu d’Ukraine et l’autre de Pologne. Le médecin Danilo Samojlovič (1742-1805) devient en 1785 associé de l’Académie de Lyon pour assurer la promotion et la diffusion de ses idées nouvelles sur le traitement de la peste. Bakla signals “effeminacy” and “homosexuality,” which stigma signifies being “weak,” “fake woman,” and “unreal man.” This historical research interrogates the etymology of bakla, which etymology claims that bakla only became a label for gay identity since the 1960s. A newfound evidence, the Bienvenido N. Santos’ “Recollections” (1932), challenges this etymology; as the document used bakla to signify “effeminate” decades before the 1960s.

Mobilizing this newfound evidence alongside theoretical, historiographic, and archival data, this thesis asks: (1) How can the 1932 “Recollections” help explain the crystallization of bakla into a label for “effeminate homosexual male” identity since the 1960s? (2) What can socio-historical processes further reveal about the etymology of bakla, and why the word bears so much stigma? (3) How did “effeminacy” and male “homosexuality” become semantically linked with bakla’s historic senses?

At its core, the study argues that sexism and political instability coincide in the social history of the bakla. Contextualizing bakla’s semantic shifts reveals that the word’s stigma comes from its earliest meaning; besides “fearful and weak,” it was bakla as “deceptive.” While tracking bakla’s semantic links with the pre-existing terms for gay identity shows that bakla was forged alongside historical biases against women. These biases rendered gay men and trans women undesirable. And archival data uncover five (5) factors explaining why bakla crystallized into a gender label, which also offer insights on how bakla has been reclaimed and reworked, despite its persisting stigma, in more recent years.

The thesis exposes bakla’s status as a “keyword” in the Philippine conceptual, sexual, and social history. It undresses bakla, opens it to critique, and recognizes the importance its etymology can play in undoing bakla’s stigma, and its potential in rethinking Philippine history itself.

En el presente trabajo analizo un corpus de obras de la realizadora argentina
Albertina Carri. Propongo poner en diálogo su último largometraje documental Cuatreros (2016) junto a la pieza Punto Impropio (2020) y Restos (2010) con la lectura performática titulada El affaire Velázquez (2013) y la instalación Investigación del cuatrerismo (2015). Estas realizaciones están construidas a partir de documentos tomados de distintos acervos. Pueden entenderse como un diálogo en ausencia que la directora intenta con su padre-madre desaparecidos por la última dictadura cívico-militar. Estas propuestas, además, son un intento de repensar la herencia o legado de sus progenitores partiendo desde los despojos. Allí asoma una forma de montaje desviado sobre los archivos construyendo otro tipo de narrativas intermediales que proponen repensar los vínculos íntimos y familiares.

The archival inventory is the highest expression of archival work. It is the most complex and articulated finding aid. To write an archival inventory, it is necessary to deeply understand records in the archive and its creator. The arrangement that is painstakingly achieved through a reordering and inventorying intervention, and then presented in the form of an archival inventory, can be read not so much as a descriptive axiom, but as an open threshold to potential new universes largely unexpressed. In other words, the inventory can only be thought of as the beginning and not the end of an archival practice.

In the era of digital cinema, there is a tendency to bring back the film grain by adding synthetic grain to the digital image. As we all know, film grain has been an integral part of film celluloidsome film historians believe its existence gives richness to the image tonality of the film itself. Its rough character could increase the sense of 'film look' which isn't found in digital images that are associated with its sharpness and cleanliness. Regarding the commercial digital film restoration project, it has been found the practice of adding more grain if the film ain't "grain" enough or cleaning the natural grain and reapplying the synthetic grain toward the film. In the Digital Statement Part III: Image Restoration, Manipulation, Treatment, and Ethics-the Federation of International Film Archive (FIAF) put this practice under the redline-it is forbidden for any archivist or restorer to remove or add a synthetic grain toward the film. How do we see the practice which contradicts the restoration ethics? What are best approach to understand the grain management issue nowadays? This essay will be questioning the ethics and practice of adding synthetic film grain in digital film restoration projects. Reading references, analyzing the case study of a film that applied this technique, and interviewing a film archivist and scholar will be the methods that I will use.

The aim of this paper is to present archival discoveries made, among others, by the author in the Archives of the Metropolitan Curia in Cracow. The discoveries concern the manuscript of Karol Wojtyła, and are connected to his work on the postdoctoral thesis. This discovery was also presented in the context of its possible influence on the study of Wojtyła's philosophy, based on Etienne Gilson's conception of the method of studying the history of philosophy (the necessity of considering the whole of thought in the context of its individual elements, the context of impersonal necessity, etc.).

Die Wiener Energierahmenstrategie schlägt die Brücke zwischen den Zielfeldern der Smart City Wien Rahmenstrategie mit ihrem langfristigen Dekarbonisierungspfad und den operativen kurzfristigen Konzepten und Maßnahmenplänen der betroffenen Abteilungen und stadteigenen/-nahen Organisationen. Henri Lefebvre develops the term, détournement, to help analyse how certain events can make urban spaces more 'plastic' and uncertain and thus more readily malleable for appropriation by groups and organisations. In the literature, however, there has less been discussion about how events of détournement can lead to often intense dialogue and internal divisions within and between state departments, and between the state and groups in civil society about how these uncertain spaces can be moulded strategically to suit certain agendas and projects. This paper starts to fill this scholarly gap by applying Lefebvre's insights to examine the Park Lane Road Improvement Scheme in London, 1955-1962. This road scheme built a dual carriageway system between Hyde Park Corner and Marble Arch and unintentionally generated a moment of détournement in the surrounding spaces. The paper explores how four distinct publics emerged around the road scheme to discuss and elicit support for their respective agendas on how these uncertain spaces might be 'stabilised' once more. The four publics were: a 'civic public' assembled by the London County Council; a 'local amenities public' created by the Royal Fine Arts Commission; a 'national heritage public' assembled by the Ministry of Works; and a 'free speech public' constructed by defenders of Speakers' Corner in Hyde Park. The paper demonstrates how a road scheme can generate competing claims to publicness, which not only incorporate the state, but also open up strategic opportunities for progressive movements to extend and develop their rights to the city.

El objetivo de este estudio fue comprender las prácticas de autodenominación en aplicaciones sociales de interacción para desarrollar una clasificación de la homosexualidad masculina, sexualidades alternativas y deseo en Brasil. El presente estudio cualitativo, basado en una investigación documental y bibliográfica en forma de cartografía, trabajó con un corpus de 1 732 palabras extraídas de 1 005 perfiles de usuario en Scruff (una aplicación móvil de interacción social utilizada por hombres que buscan relacionarse afectiva y sexualmente con otros hombres). Se utilizó el software de minería de datos Voyant Tools, el cual permitió la visualización de correlaciones, coincidencias, flujos y dispersión de temas textuales, así como análisis de contenido para identificar los principales temas del corpus. Artikulu honetan WEKA ikasketa automatikorako tresnarako CTC algoritmoaren inplementazioa, J48Consolidated paketea, aurkezten da. CTC algoritmoak lagin multzo bat sortzen du eta lagin guztietan dagoen ezagutza kontuan hartuta sailkapen zuhaitz bakarra eraikitzeko gai da, kasu berrien sailkapenaren azalpena galdu gabe. Based on the survey questionnaire and interviews with employees of the state archives across Kazakhstan, this article examines the impact of digital technology on Kazakh archivists. Although the impact of information technology on human life in the information age is growing, there is a lack of research in Kazakhstan about how the deep transformation in society engendered by digital technology has affected the national archival system and archivists. It is therefore not fully understood how they can influence and what changes they bring to the archival system in Kazakhstan and archivists. Hence, this study aims to fill the gap in this specific area and contribute to the scholarship on archival science. The results of the study empirically confirm the positive impact of information technology on the work of archivists. The obtained data require a critical approach to the role of information technology in the work of archivists.

This article examines the looting and transport of archives during the Thirty
Years’ War and the resulting transformations of archival orders. Using the
cases of the Palatinate archives in 1622, the Bavarian archives in 1632, the
Württemberg archives in 1634, and the imperial archives in Prague in 1648,
the article analyses how the seized archival documents were sorted, registered, and packed by the conquerors, and how they were finally moved
away and incorporated into new contexts. Key sources are archival inventories, created either before the transport or in the destination archives.
Drawing from approaches on the history of objects, the archival documents
are regarded as material objects, which were attributed different meanings
and values during their journey. It becomes obvious that the archival orders
were affected as well by contingent political decisions as by contemporary
scholarly patterns of classification as by the spatial-material conditions of
transport, packaging, and storage.

Dieser Beitrag untersucht Eroberung und Transport von Archiven im Drei-
ßigjährigen Krieg und die damit verbundene Veränderung archivalischer
Ordnungen. Anhand der Fälle des kurpfälzischen Archivs 1622, des kurbayerischen Archivs 1632, des württembergischen Archivs 1634, und schließlich des Prager Reichsarchivs 1648 wird jeweils untersucht, wie die erbeuteten Akten und Urkunden durch die Eroberer geordnet, verzeichnet, verpackt wurden und wie diese schließlich abtransportiert und am Zielort in neue Kontexte eingegliedert wurden. Zentrale Quellen sind Inventare und Verzeichnisse der Aktenbeute, die vor den Transporten oder bei der Eingliederung in die neuen Archive erstellt wurden. Anregungen objektgeschichtlicher Ansätze aufgreifend werden die eroberten Akten und Urkunden dabei als materielle Objekte betrachtet, die unterschiedliche Wert- und Bedeutungskontexte durchliefen und Spuren der Reisen davontrugen. Die archivalischen Ordnungen erweisen sich dabei gleichermaßen von situativen politischen Entscheidungen, gelehrten Ordnungsmustern der Zeit wie von den räumlich-materiellen Bedingungen von Transport, Verpackung und Lagerung geprägt.

As a name, “Anthropocene” would seem to signal that this geologic epoch is both because of humans and about humans. The latter implication draws on pervasive cultural ideas about nature which underlie the Anthropocene and its climatic impacts, namely nature as an extractable, endlessly-renewable resource. While scholars in the environmental humanities, animal studies, and critical plant studies have been quick to both diagnose and propose new directions for our engagements with the material universe, scholarship on archival materiality has continued to focus on the archives as an institution for and about human intellectual endeavors. In other words, the archives continues to be an extractable resource. Resumo: Esta investigação bibliográfica se insere no campo da História da educação matemática (Hem), tendo como tema "autenticidade de arquivos digitais". O objetivo do artigo é investigar a utilização de arquivos digitais em pesquisa do campo da Hem, norteandose pelo seguinte problema de pesquisa: Como os arquivos digitais vêm sendo utilizados como fontes empíricas nas pesquisas da Hem? Para isso, o texto amparou-se em Duranti (1994) para potencializar a discussão sobre as características que constituem um arquivo. Por meio da análise dos trabalhos desenvolvidos no campo da Hem infere-se que a nota de rodapé é um instrumento de grande valia para autenticar a utilização de um arquivo digital em uma narrativa histórica.
